UFC Champ Kamaru Usman Targets Canelo for Crossover Event
UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman says the world will be watching his fight with Canelo Alvarez.
The 35-year-old defended her title against England’s Leon Edwards inside the Octagon on August 20 but is still aiming for a crossover event with Alvarez.
Mexicans have their own fight to compete first on September 17 when The undisputed super-middleweight champion faces Gennadiy Golovkin third time.
Canelo described Usman’s attempt to get him into a fight as nothing more than an excuse for a high-paying day.
But in one Interview with TMZ The Nigerian-American says Canelo’s next fight day is for them.
“It’s supposed to be our day.”
“It was supposed to be my date with Canelo but of course he found someone else to dance with. GGG, trio, it was an incredible fight. It’s definitely something I’m keeping an eye on and watching.”
Usman vs Canelo – “Worse Things Happen”
“Let’s be honest in this era right now he’s one of the best to do it. It’s never been done, pound-for-pound versus pound-for-pound and remarkably close in weight classes to being able to do it. Why not?”
“I know a lot of people hate it [but] There are crazier things happening and it happened. And I don’t think there will be anyone in the world who doesn’t watch that game. Even though they want to hate it, when you get the notification that the war is going people will be watching that fight. “
