Two kids sit in the front seat of the car in the video as the driver appears to be racing another car

In a recent example of bad decisions made public, a video emerged on Twitter depicts two children sitting in the front seat of a manual transmission Honda Civic – with the same black and red upholstery as in FD2R Citizens CHEAP – driven by a parent or caregiver at high speed, appearing to be participating in a drag race with another vehicle.

The clip may be as short as 25 seconds, but that’s all it takes to show a lot of misconduct on the video at once. The two kids may have had the usual three-point belt around them, but it’s certainly clear – this method isn’t safe, let alone getting them into the car for a drag race.

It’s not clear where this video was shot, but traffic lights can be seen in the back of the video, so it’s very likely the video was shot on a public road. While Road Traffic Act 1987 does not specifically refer to illegal racing, which falls under reckless and dangerous driving, as outlined in Section 42(1) of the Act.

If convicted of this crime, the driver can be jailed for up to 5 years and fined not less than RM5,000 and not more than RM15,000. In the event of a second or subsequent conviction, they can be imprisoned for up to 10 years and fined not less than RM10,000 and not more than RM20,000.
