Officials from Turfway Park have announced that they will be canceling Friday night’s show due to freezing temperatures and wind chills forecast as low as 25 degrees Celsius.
The National Weather Service’s forecast for Friday in Florence calls for a 20% chance of sleet and high temperatures of 6 degrees. Cool conditions can lead to wind chills of 10-25 degrees Celsius.
Turfway Park is scheduled to resume racing on Wednesday with first post at 5:55 p.m. Eastern time. The Holiday Encounter is scheduled to run through Saturday, December 31 and the Winter/Spring Encounter will begin with a special New Year’s Day card on Sunday, January 1.
Racing Director Tyler Picklesimer will add and redraw races from Friday’s card to next week’s race.
