Out of an abundance of caution to all participants, officials from Race Park announced that they will be canceling their eight-race show Friday night (March 3) due to dangerously high winds.
The National Weather Service forecast in Florence calls for showers and thunderstorms with highs of nearly 63 degrees at first. Cool conditions were expected to continue through the evening hours with sustained winds of 23 to 28 mph and gusts as high as 55 mph.
Friday’s program has a $99,210 rollover to Late Picks 5 (Race 4-8) and that money will be added to Saturday’s Late Picks 5 (Race 5-9) pool.
Saturday’s show at Turfway Park is scheduled to begin at 5:55 p.m. Eastern time. The National Weather Service forecast sunny skies with highs of about 54 degrees at first. The low will drop to 35 degrees.
Road to the Kentucky and Oaks Derby will advance to Florence on Saturday with a $150,000 John Battaglia Memorial Bet (Round 8) and $150,000 Cincinnati Trophy Stakes (Race 6).
