Tucker Carlson featured Kyle Rittenhouse in first interview after sentencing: He was a ‘sweet kid’

Prior to the broadcast of his interview with Rittenhouse, Carlson declared, “During our long conversation, Kyle Rittenhouse caught our attention as bright, decent, sincere, serious, and hardworking.” Carlson went on to say that Rittenhouse is “exactly the type of guy you want more of in your country. He’s not particularly political. He never wanted to be an icon of anything. what.” Later in the show, Carlson described Rittenhouse as a “sweet kid.”

There were several voices in the conservative media that were against this story. Notably, Carlson’s Fox News colleague Gillian Turner, pointed out earlier on Monday that while Rittenhouse was acquitted “he’s not a hero here.” As she puts it, “There’s no hero, there’s no winner. There’s no winning round for Kyle or anyone else to take.”

But Turner’s microphone is paler than Carlson’s. And it’s hard to see Carlson’s interview with Rittenhouse, in which he (presumably) attacks the news media and others, as something other than a triumph. …

“I don’t think he’s a crazy right winger”

An hour after Rittenhouse’s interview with the most famous right-wing conspiracy theorist in the business aired, his attorney, Mark Richards, appeared on CNN and described his client in one way or another. is different. Chris Cuomo asked about Carlson, Fox News, and whether Rittenhouse is affiliated with such forces in the right-wing media. Richards replied: “I don’t think he is… I don’t think he’s a crazy right-winger.”

Cuomo then asked Richards about Rittenhouse’s ionization: “What kind of message do you think this will send?” Cuomo asked, noting how some gun stores are advertising sales tied to Rittenhouse’s name and how a GOP lawmaker offered him an intern job. “Is that something Kyle endorses?” Richards replied, “I don’t think that’s what he espouses. I think it sends a message that certain people are idiots…”
