Former President Donald Trump said on Saturday he would stay in the 2024 presidential race even as he faces criminal charges in the ongoing investigations into his handling of White House documents and Alleged interference in the 2020 election.

Trump fulfills his promise reply James Rosen of Newsmax, a former Fox News reporter, during a press conference at the Conservative Political Action Conference, or CPAC, Rosen tweeted on Saturday.

Trump debuts Tender for the White House in 2024 in November, a week after Republicans lost several key midterm races.

Recently GOP voter poll shows that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, seen by many as Trump’s main competitor, would beat Trump if the two went head-to-head. DeSantis is yet to run for president.

Trump’s campaign comes as the Justice Department is conducting an investigation into whether he deleted nearly 3,000 documents from the White House and potentially interfered with the 2020 election results. FBI seized nearly 200,000 pages of documents from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in September.

The investigation took place after Trump impeached twice with high and misdemeanor charges, once for allegedly using US foreign aid to blackmail Ukraine and a second time for allegedly inciting the January 6 uprising on the US Capitol.
