Transgender ‘beauty consultant’ arrested after injecting drugs into her butt, killing woman
A transgender Houston woman has been arrested and charged with manslaughter after police say she performed an unlicensed silicone injection into her buttocks that left a woman dead.
Lisa Fernandez, 47, was arrested Tuesday for allegedly killing 38-year-old Marja McClendon in St. Louis, Missouri. Marja died a few days after dating Fernandez at her apartment in 2018.
Lisa – a self-proclaimed “beauty consultant” – has been providing butt lifts out of the house since 2004, according to court documents. Police say that Lisa illegally obtained silicone and used it with a syringe into the woman’s back.
Marja’s story is truly heartbreaking, MTO News has learned. After the first round of injections on April 24, 2018, the St Louis beauty was left in pain and feeling tired. But she came back the next day to receive her second injection. According to court documents, Marja returned, at least in part, because Lisa refused to give her a refund.

Officials said the second procedure had to be stopped several times because Mara was in “severe pain”.
Officials told MTO News that then things went from bad to worse. Marja began losing her breath and coughing up blood before being rushed to the local emergency room where, after days in and out of the hospital, she died on April 30, 2018.
The official cause of death was given as complications from a silicone pulmonary embolism. Homicide detectives began a grueling two-year investigation that ended on Tuesday when they arrested Lisa for Marja’s death.
“We are concerned – as this is the current trend of buttock injections – that there may be other victims. We encourage anyone who has had an injection in the buttocks,” Nancy Ta, Assistant District Attorney for Harris County, told media.
