Tracee Ellis Ross is the latest star to receive an honorary doctorate, and she has been specially honored by THE Spelman College!
Tracee acknowledges the power and value of “Black Sisterhood”
The historic Black Women’s College officially honored Tracee in its opening ceremony on Sunday.
Tracee celebrated the occasion with an Instagram video, which opened with her singing the classic graduation song while acting silly in her charismatic outfit.
Viewers can then see Tracee’s degree is labeled Black-ish star on stage.
At that point, she addressed Spelman’s graduating class with a heartfelt speech.
“There is a particular type of rapid heartbeat that occurs in my heart when I am in the Black Sea. But as I swim in the distinctive flow of Black sisterhood, my heart rate stabilizes, my shoulders sag, and I’m reminded of my worth. Because I see yours.
In his caption, the 50-year-old admits, “Today I became a Spelmanite and it was amazing!”

News that Tracee would be honored at Spelman’s graduation went viral about a month ago, when the Atlanta-based organization revealed, “Award-winning actress, CEO and producer Tracee Ellis Ross will receive an honorary degree.”
As news began to spread, Tracee shared a video upload to social media about the issue and stated that she was “delighted to be joining the Spelman Sisterhood.”
Additionally, she calls the opportunity a “great honor.”
Recognition of other celebrities who have received honorary degrees
While talking about honorary degrees, it is appropriate to thank some of the other stars who have recently received similar privileges.
EQUAL Shade room report, Ms. Elliott received an honorary doctorate. from Norfolk State University late last year. Notably, both her father and mother attended HBCU, just a few minutes’ walk from her hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia.
We also have to admit that this is Missy’s second honors degree, as she received one from Berklee College of Music in 2019.
Also, back in July, Naomi Campbell received an honorary doctorate. from the College of Creative Arts.
