Toyota Yaris Cross 2023 launched in Indonesia – DNGA B-SUV; 1.5 liters NA, hybrid; Perodua D66B preview?

If the name sounds familiar, you’re probably thinking other yaris vehicles based on Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA) sold in Europe and Japan. That version is smaller than the ASEAN version introduced today, measuring 4,180 mm, 1,765 mm, 1,560 mm high and 2,560 mm wheelbase.


Toyota introduces a dashboard height of 260 mm, a 19-degree approach angle and a 28-degree exit angle, which it claims makes the Yaris Cross suitable as a light off-road vehicle. For something more suited to everyday driving, the SUV has a turning radius of 5.2 meters.

The ASEAN Yaris Cross differs in design from its eponymous competitor as it has more angular details on the front, as shown by the headlights and fog lights around. Other highlights of the ‘Solid & Dynamic’ approach include the large trapezoidal grille, slim two-piece taillights, two-tone paint options available as well as mandatory body panels.

Inside, you’ll find a sculpted dashboard and an asymmetrical center console, the latter contributing to a driver-focused cockpit. The large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system sits above the center vent, with the air conditioning controls located below near the gear lever. Toyota says some cabins feature soft cushions, a customizable 7-inch digital dashboard, and enough trunk space to hold four large suitcases.

The introduction of the Yaris Cross (supposedly codenamed D03B) is notable as there have been many rumors that Perodua is working on a new SUV (codenamed D03B). D66B; rumored to be called Nexis) will rank above Ativa in its product line.
