Town Sim meets action adventure in My Time at Sandrock, out this summer – PlayStation.Blog

What started as the DLC for My Time in Portia, has grown into a much larger project now called My Time in Sandrock. Coming to PlayStation on PS4 and PS5 this summer, players will explore the town of Sandrock, a city-state located in the Eufaula Desert in the League of Free Cities. Old players will be pleased with the new yet familiar experience, while newcomers will be able to comfortably fall in love with the gameplay and people of Sandrock!

After the player designs their character, they will go to Sandrock as a recruited mason. When they arrive, they will find what was once a densely populated metropolis is now a ruined town, where water and wood are scarce resources. The player’s job now will be to cooperate with the townspeople to revive the town of Sandrock. Take in views of mesas, deep canyons, vast deserts, and breathtaking ruins along the way!

Farming is just one of many activities in Sandrock

To pass My Time at Sandrock, the player must complete the story missions. Story missions require the player’s character to build or rebuild something that has broken down in town. Some examples are gathering materials to rebuild a water tower or repair a stage found outside the Blue Moon Saloon after a sandstorm passed. After completing a story mission, players will find themselves with a few days to spare in the game. During this time, players can complete quests to earn money, focus on building relationships with people in town, or just explore the world!

With the help of your workshop, saving Sandrock won’t be difficult at all

Sandrock’s primary focus will be found in the workshop, which serves as the player’s primary base of activity. Here, players bring in materials and relics from around the map to assist in completing commissions from the local government and townspeople. As players progress and complete commissions, they can upgrade the machines in their workshop, customize the space with furniture, and even paint their own designs to decorate. These will help attract more industries to the town and, in turn, contribute to the player’s workshop progressing towards becoming the #1 factory in the area!

Players fight Chairman Geegler and Director Geegler

The combat system in My Time at Sandrock is fresh and feels much better this time around. Players will encounter a variety of enemies from monsters, robots, bandits, etc.! Enemies behave intelligently with coordinated attacks, so players must anticipate their movements in order to counterattack successfully. Watch out for larger enemies, as they can send the player into the air with a single hit! Plan an attack with a melee weapon or opt for a ranged approach.

Enemies can be found in the dangerous ruins type dungeon, but there are also two other types of dungeons to experience. One is called Abandoned Ruins, which is an enemy-free dungeon and allows the player to safely mine minerals and relics. The third type is called Half-Explored Ruins, which includes mining areas as well as enemies to fight. Dungeons unlock as the player completes story missions and can be used to earn large amounts of character EXP and valuable materials to upgrade weapons and equipment.

Another standout feature of My Time at Sandrock is the player’s ability to pursue romantic relationships with other characters in the game. Players can date, get married, have children as well as do a series of in-depth story quests for each character they want to romance. Pursuing romantic relationships opens up deeper plot points, as well as character development.

However, players must balance their building and recovery goals with the constant threat of attack from the nefarious Logan and his band of bandits, which makes their mission all the more difficult. The game has a deep and engaging storyline with unexpected plot developments that will keep players asking for another day.

Notice from the developer

“My Time at Sandrock builds on the beloved gameplay mechanics of My Time at Portia while introducing new features and QOL elements that fans of the series will love,” said Aaron Deng from Pathea Games said. “We’re excited for players to experience the unique story, characters, and mechanics of My Time at Sandrock, and we’re encouraging everyone to join and start rebuilding the desert oasis.”
