If possible, would dogs give Father’s Day cards? Of course they will! Dogs never pass up an opportunity to receive love and affection – and reciprocate it abundantly. However, dogs have unique personalities, just like humans. Some can be sweet and gentle while others can be silly and sarcastic.
“Well, at least you’ve got the perfect dog.”
Ah, yes, the humble cry of a dog forced to share his kingdom with other so-called canines. They may have four legs and fur, and can bark and growl, but these other dogs are not the proud, majestic, and extremely loyal domestic wolves this kind of companion imagines.
“Dad—so about those… my lousy teenage years.”
Bloating bellies, shredding everything, tossing nights… those are just a few of the joys of canine youth. You have to give it to the dog that can recognize his flaws and shortcomings and own him with licking and love.
“Dad, there’s no one I want to pick up my poo from.”
Well, there’s a compliment you don’t hear every day! There is a saying that when the aliens come, they will think that the dogs are on duty because the humans follow them and pick up their garbage. Dogs may think they are in charge for the same reasons. But at least they were grateful for our touch.
“Dad, without you, today is just another day.”
Can you imagine how boring and quiet our days would be without a furry friend full of personality? It’s just a series of days without being cuddled, cuddled, squirmed and played with a creature that wants nothing more than to be with you. Dogs live their lives without being spoiled, and the sentiment of this card is just the truth, plain and simple.
“If this Father’s Day card is late, blame the postman.”
Because the dog ate him. Because the screen door didn’t lock, and the dog barked fiercely. And the postman ran/stomped/fumed away. Dogs won’t get away if the postman smells weird and insists on trespassing!
“Dad, this card is redeemable for unlimited tech support – I’ll always be here to clear your cookies.”
Dogs have the kindest hearts, always ready to do their part – by cleaning and eating. Whether begging or stealing cookies or other snacks, dogs always believe in the saying “Don’t waste, don’t want, don’t want”.
“Happy Father’s Day from your little Shih-T (zu).”
This is fine and fine for the actual Shih-Tzus, but what about the large or medium-sized dogs that act like the little Shih-Tzus, if you capture my not-so-subtle drift? This is their funny way of saying, “I know who I am, I know you know who I am, and I love that you still love me.”
“A little bird told me it was Father’s Day… so I ate it.”
Ruh-roh! Katherine is like a postman. And the cookies. But this bird isn’t nearly as delicious as a cookie. The postman didn’t eat well either – too bad he didn’t taste as good as the chicken. But anyway, Happy Father’s Day.

This is as serious and sane as it gets. Any dog that gives his “dad” an innocent and affectionate card like this is one of the coolest little boys ever. Perhaps throughout the year, Dad can bring out his fluffy kid’s sense of humor and wit.
“I got you the Father’s Day gift that doesn’t stop giving – my feathers are everywhere.”
The thin, air-light strands of love that appear everywhere are constant reminders that your fluffy baby (and its nature) has crept into every aspect of your life. . Sparsely used wardrobe? Fur. Bathtub? Fur. Tupperware drawer? You will get points. Why not give your human father a card as a gentle reminder that dust and fluff bunnies are your everyday gift of love?

Again with bottomless humility! I’m starting to think we have a lot of dogs that are very sarcastic and funny. So, again, this column is a reflection of my own pathologies, so… what can I tell you?
