Saint Bernard runs to the house next door to visit his 95-year-old neighbor every chance he gets
Since Brody the Saint Bernard has been brought home, he’s had a super sweet relationship with his 93-year-old neighbor. It was love at first sight for the big, hairy boy, and he was captivated by Sally from the first time they met.
In fact, their relationship is so beautiful that Brody will sometimes run over to Sally’s house to see how she’s doing three to four times in a day!
It was on his first day home with his new family that Brody met Sally. He hadn’t even settled into a place to stay before he traveled next door.
Dave, Brody’s father, said: ‘I just finished bathing him, I went in and he was gone.
First they ransacked their home. But Brody was nowhere to be found. Sure enough, he snuck over to the neighbor’s house, Sally Reenhorn’s house.
Since the 93-year-old grandmother lives alone and doesn’t own a dog, she doesn’t have any dog gifts on hand. So she worked with what she had, and sent the boy to find some stale bread. But Brody didn’t mind. He devoured it immediately, and demanded even more.
“I thought, maybe he wants some stale bread. And he loves it! And to this day, you won’t believe, he won’t take my dog food! He just wanted bread from me,” Sally said.
Ever since the day Brody was brought home at 12 weeks old, he’s made it his mission to sneak off to meet his dear friend, Sally. What does Brody do when he arrives? Well, he put his big furry paws on Sally’s window and waited until she saw him visit, of course.
Sometimes he goes inside the house with her and they snuggle up on the couch to watch TV. Other times, he likes to follow her out while she takes care of the flowers and plants in her beautiful garden.
But then after Sally had a heart attack and had to make the difficult decision to move her to an aged care facility, her furry best friend became extremely upset.
The devoted dog does not give up. Four months after Sally left, he continued to run to the house next door and put his big, muscular paws on her window, hoping to visit.
“He went there every day, but he didn’t get any treatment, so he just sat there and fell asleep on the porch. So I had to call him back or pull him back,” Dave said.
So they started taking Brody weekly to see their long-lost best friend. It doesn’t matter if she moves, Brody will never forget Sally.
