Update Thursday, June 22, 2023 1:20 p.m. EST – A friend of two of the men on the Titan speak SkyNews that the fragments seem to be from sank:
In the final moments, we heard from a rescue expert that the debris found during the search for Titan was “the submersible’s landing frame and rear cover”.
David Mearns told Sky News that the rear flap is “its pointed end” known as the “crank set” and the landing gear is what the sub “sits on”.
He added: “If the fares are off and the frames are off – then something really bad has happened to the whole structure.”
Discoveries from the Canadian ship Arctic horizonremote control car. The North Pole was unable to join the search before Thursday morning.
This is a new story and we will update it as we know more.
