Recent movie Ghostbusters: Afterlifedirected by Jason Reitman, is a direct sequel to two original Ghostbusters films from the 1980s. Author’s fantasy. Christopher M. Cevasco establish Kingdom Come becomes an exciting return to the Ghostbusters universe.
“The story itself was very petty, but I’m willing to forgive that because I had fun just spending time with the characters,” Cevasco said in Episode 502 of Geek’s Guide to the Galaxy audio file. “It’s not going to win any Academy Awards or anything, but it’s a fun popcorn movie, which is what the original was meant to be.”
Writer Sara Lynn Michener like so much Kingdom Come, but says that Ghostbusters really needs to find a new approach if the franchise is to continue. “I feel there is a lot of potential to bring Ghostbusters to a whole new location,” she said. “They can make a scary Ghostbusters — a really scary movie where the stakes are really high, where people are actually getting killed. They can do everything. “
Kingdom Come move the action from New York City to a small town in Oklahoma. Geek’s Guide to the Galaxy host David Barr Kirtley loved the idea of a town founded by Gozer devotees and thought it would make a great setting for a horror movie. “I’ve enjoyed this movie, but I’m not excited for a sequel to this movie if it’s like that,” he said. “But if they make the sequel like a genuine horror movie, like Dead Devilwhere it’s funny and really unsettling or scary, that’s going to be really fun. ”
Science fiction author Robert Repino Agree that a more horror-focused approach might be just what the franchise needs. “There must be a script floating around Blum’s house for a scary Ghostbusters,” he said. “They’re the ones doing it, aren’t they? Bring it to Jordan Peele. ”

2016 Ghostbusters My favorite movie for very specific reasons. I love Paul Feig. He did A simple favor, it’s one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen in my life. He really understands the humor of “gender politics”. I don’t know how else to describe it. It’s a very specific thing, but it’s hilarious when it’s done right. But yeah, I’ve definitely picked out a lot of the cynical stuff going on, and it’s well worth it, especially given how much I love the movie, and again, I’m a “fan” too. no less than the average Gen X guy is the “fans,” and every time I hear them “give it back to the fans,” it’s like, “Hello? Who do you think I am? I grew up on these, too. ”
David Barr Kirtley on nostalgia:
The children started to destroy the funeral, and after they broke their first funeral, they would be sent to prison. And everything until then I was pretty much. And then Phoebe, her teenage daughter, said, “I want a phone call from me.” And the sheriff said, “Who are you going to call?” That’s the catchphrase of the original movie. So it’s a very obvious meta joke. And at that point, I was like, “Oh no, let’s get going.” And from that point on, it became more and more self-referential, and just threw all the things that you remember about you, just piling it higher and higher, so that by the end of the movie, I felt like the weight of it’s all in jokes and references, recalls and nostalgia have completely buried any kind of story or character underneath it. “
Christopher M. Cevasco on ghosts:
For me, the single biggest missed opportunity is “we have a Ghostbusters turning into a ghost,” and that fact is hardly noticeable. I mean, these are people who spend their lives researching ghosts and ghost phenomena, and then when three other Ghostbusters movies come out at the end, it’s not one of them. [curious]. I wanted to see Ray Stantz walked over and said, “Dude! What is it really like? How does it feel? Oh my gosh, that’s great! We really have a man inside now. We can find out what’s going on.” Or even to understand that Spengler, who became a ghost, how does his soul react to that? Is there any way that could have been discovered. “
Robert Repino on the plot:
I wonder how different the movie would be if instead of the characters accidentally uncovering this secret, instead the characters, in the first place, specifically go to Oklahoma to find out what happened. out with Egon. So it is Ghostbusters 3: The Search for Egon. That could get things off to a better start. Of course, now the point is that you lose some of the wonder that you’re nowhere that Phoebe realizes, “Oh, my grandfather’s ghost is talking to me.” … But perhaps by letting the characters have a specific goal in the first place, instead of just stumbling into this situation and saying like, “Okay, I guess we’re killing ghosts now,” perhaps that might work better.
