Three important things that really hold back your photography
The foundation of success in whatever you do is understanding what you should and what you most definitely shouldn’t do. Are you guilty of these three issues holding back your photography?
With the advent of social media, especially YouTube, help videos about every aspect of life have truly educated people in whatever field they are passionate about. A perfect example is surfing. As recently as 20 years ago, there was no such thing as a coach, or technical analysis, or how-to guide. But now? The old pros just can’t get in line fast enough to offer their own online video courses that teach you how to go from popping to spitting from smoldering barrels on shallow reefs. It’s common in almost every genre that the most common mistakes people make are holding them back.
And that brings us to this great video by Mike Smith, in which he introduces three key things that really hold back your photography. I especially like the first photo because he discusses the huge advantage of digital photography that many people overlook: take a lot of pictures and don’t be afraid to experiment from different positions as you can easily delete them and no one but you will see them. I see a lot of people going to locations and shooting from one location with a single lens at a certain angle. “Why not move around more and play with different options,” I always thought to myself. Watch the video and tell me the biggest mistake photographers make the most.
