This unique Amex offer can cover almost half the cost of your Royal Caribbean cruise


Are you planning to book a Royal Caribbean journey in the coming months? You might want to do it with a American Express.

Some American Express cardholders in recent days have begun to see offers of 20,000 Membership Rewards points for spending $1,000 or more on a Royal Caribbean trip.

That’s a remarkable amount of Membership Rewards points. Current TPG Membership Rewards value at 2 cents per point, which means 20,000 bonus points will be worth $400 according to our valuation.

For example, if you spend $1,000 on a Royal Caribbean cruise with an American Express card, you’ll get 40% of that back as Membership Rewards points.

Note that this is a targeted offer, meaning that not all cardholders will receive it. Additionally, you must sign up for this particular Amex Offer to redeem it.

Other caveats include a rule that cardholders can only apply for offers with one American Express card. Additionally, the offer is only valid for cruise bookings made in one of the following ways:

  • online through RoyalCaribbean.com.
  • Through American Express Travel.
  • By calling 866-562-7625.
  • Through a travel agent where Royal Caribbean is reflected as the merchant of record.

In addition, reservations made through an online site are only placed on US sites.

The $1,000 spending threshold does not include spend on onboard purchases, e-gift cards and physical gift cards made online, as well as spending on transfers to Royal Caribbean ships. Cruise spending in connection with MGM Resorts International Joint Holidays and Royal Wedding Packages are also not included in the offer.

Offer is only for Royal Caribbean brand and not sister brand of Royal Caribbean Group, Celebrity And silver sea yacht.

Add new Amex cruise offer

Royal Caribbean’s new promotion is just one of a number of cruise-related offers that have popped up for American Express cardholders in recent days.

Other offers sent to select American Express cardholders include:

  • Spend $1,000 or more and get $250 back from Norwegian Cruise Line. Offer expires on July 24th.
  • Get 5 Membership Rewards Points for every qualifying dollar spent with the AmaWaterways River Cruise. The maximum total score allowed is 50,000. Offer expires on August 4th.

Several TPG employees who carry multiple American Express cards in recent days have received one or more of these offers. Different TPG employees are seeing different combinations of incentives.

To find out if you qualify for one of the offers, check your American Express card account. If you see one of the deals, it’s best to add it immediately as it may disappear. Some offers are capacity controlled.

Another tip: Only 100 Amex Coupons are displayed at a time. So if you have the ability, add offers to your cardand new ones may appear.

Also, don’t forget that if you need to fly to or from your cruise port, Amex Tourism will give you 5 points per dollar on flights booked directly with airlines (up to $500,000 on these purchases per calendar year) and 5 points per dollar on prepaid hotels booked on Amex Travel with Platinum card from American Express.

If you are not an American Express cardholder, you may want to consider signing up. Platinum card from American Express is offering a welcome bonus of 80,000 Membership Rewards points after you spend $6,000 on a purchase within the first six months of becoming a card member.
