You need to see Brian and Jessie De Lowe’s bathtub. Much has been said about the couple’s beautiful 1950s Montecito ranch house in California and its airy indoor/outdoor flow — and for good reason. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom home boasts a kitchen that feels like you’re outdoors. Sea breezes move through the open doors and the sun spills over the walls of the windows. All textures and earth tones are present here, creating a home that is grounded in tranquility and emphasizes coziness. It’s all incredibly engaging, utterly dreamy, and truly welcoming.
Jessie is a Expression Coach with a powerful vision to open others up towards their most vibrant lives, a vision that aligns with their soul’s true calling. Brian is the co-founder and president of Suitable hotel which boasts some of the most awe-inspiring breaks to rest your head (and satisfy your cravings) in California and Austin. Together, they share a 3,800 square foot home with daughters Amelie and Lucia. Jessie shared: “The kids are always running around and dancing. That’s why the indoor/outdoor space is more than just aesthetic — it provides a functional foundation for the De Lowe family to thrive on.
About that bathtub…
Jessie admits: “Our Concrete Nation bathtub gets a lot of love. The basin is a stop to the show — you could almost call it a work of art. And it’s no surprise to find the tub ethically designed and handcrafted in Australia, home to those who provide the ultimate in comfortable, stylish living.
Ahead, we entered De Lowe’s house (dubbed Four Feathers . Farmhouse) where the wind blows freely — and the tubs are in place.
Montecito Meets Mallorca
How would you describe the aesthetic of your home?
When it comes to décor, Jessie describes their inspiration as “Montecito meets Mallorca”, which explains the general approach to design: textures using natural materials create a tranquil home. quiet, “tidy but cozy”.
Earthy, classic and a little bit of a surprise
How did you decide on the color scheme?
We wanted earthy colors that were soft and unexpected.
We are constantly cooking and entertaining, so it is important to us to create a wonderful flow between the inside and the outside.
What’s the coolest decor you’ve found?
Lots of vintage art and vases from Round Top, Texas.
Define a focal point and run with it
Brian and Jessie picked the island’s cabinet and flute from the Brothers of Industry (and they sourced that beautiful Calcutta gold slab from a rock in LA). It all comes together perfectly to complement the star of the show: blue gray Ilve range.
Where style meets love
Do you have a favorite piece of furniture?
Our concrete country tub gets a lot of love. About the furniture, Kelly Wearstler Credenza (above) is very special.
How has your home’s architectural style influenced the design process?
There are different parts of the house, and we enlarged and widened a lot of the hallways to make it circulate better and feel more open.

Do you have any wise words to share with those who are about to decorate?
We started with a few key focal points and then designed the space with The house of honey around those pieces. For example, we knew we wanted the Concrete Nation bathtub and sink to be dusty pink, so we designed the bathroom to complement that. In the kitchen, we knew we wanted the Gray Green Ilve Range, so we designed the kitchen around that!
Finally, any tips for creating a minimal space, but warm and inviting?
Create multiple built-in repositories or fixtures that contain storage for a streamlined system for everything to work on.
