At tonight’s Game Awards, the Falcon Age developers Outerloop Games announced Desired clothes, a story-driven RPG about fending off suitors and exes while trying not to let your family down. Published by Annapurna Interactive, it looks wacky and colorful, with battles that involve throwing spooky cars and calling on giant family members to hit your opponents. It also features cooking, skateboarding, and can dance (though I can’t tell from the trailer if dancing is separate from combat).
Thirsty Suitors follows a woman named Jala, who seems to have a lot of drama going on. Annoying exes, friendship troubles, immigrant parents with high expectations, and a grandmother who relentlessly throws suitors her way.
“Our mission at Outerloop Games is to create accessible games about underrepresented cultures,” said Chandana Ekanayake, studio co-founder and game director. “Thirsty Suitors will provide players with a glimpse into our teams’ individual experiences growing up, which can be vastly different from what players have gone through.”
“Players will help Jala deal with her mistakes, make up with her ex, reconcile cultural differences and become the person she wants to be,” a press release reads. know.
Well, some more home movies to add to Annpurna’s collection. It looks good! I love how the game seems to have a lot of variety – a little bit of cooking with the parents, some relaxing skateboarding and honing around the city, then some magical turn-based battles.
Outerloop says Thirsty Suitors is coming, though they haven’t specified a date.
