Aliens: Fireteam Elite begins its second season on December 14, adding a new Point Defense mode where players must defend several positions while fending off nasty xenomorphs. The co-op shooter will also introduce new guns, challenge cards, and a place for you to see your alien stats. Furthermore, it’s also coming to Xbox Game Pass soon. I never intended to buy this game, but I’d love to give it a try. Thanks for that, Game Pass.
Point Defense will be an alternative to your usual Horde Mode woes, where your team needs to defend and repair three points while aliens attack you in waves. This seems more in line with what we see in the movies. You know, people are desperately trying to fix something while their friends are screaming and being eaten? Those are the tools.
The developers of Cold Iron Studios didn’t mention exactly what the new weapons are, but you can see them in the announcement image below. The top right looks like a revolver and the one on the left side of that gun has very good sci-fi lights on it.
All of that is part of the second season’s free update, but there’s also some paid DLC coming soon. Dubbed the Nostromo Salvage Pack, it comes with Nostromo-themed skins (flying stuff and that stuff) and other cosmetics.
I still haven’t played Fireteam Elite because, well, it looks pretty good. I was abandoned by how many aliens were in there. Having multiple xenomorphs makes them less scary! Still, I figured it could be a good co-op shooter to get into when I’m bored of Back 4 Blood. Shout out to Game Pass for getting it so I no longer have to commit to buying potentially annoying games.
