These five special puppies need a miracle

As the holidays draw near, we ask that you remember our best friends as you open your heart this season.

Every week, iHeartDogs offers Waggle support for five special pets. Waggle is a nonprofit that allows families and rescuers to crowdfund their pets through trusted caregivers like veterinarians, surgeons, and professionals. They verify every candidate to ensure that each campaign is for a pet with a legitimate need. We love Waggle because they pay the care bill directly and any extra money goes into caring for other sick or injured pets.

These five pets are really struggling Waggle recipients right now, hoping for an angel to help them through tough times. Can you help us reach our goal of sponsoring these lovely faces?

opal

Opal was one of nine dogs found living in horrible conditions in a home after their owner passed away. Sweet dog Dachshund is in horrible shape and in excruciating pain! Her lower jaw is broken, her teeth are decayed, and she has a lump in her breast. Now Opal needs urgent medical attention to change her life.

“Can you imagine trying to eat with a rotten and cracked mouth? She needs multiple surgeries to survive and we need your help,” Leslie H., of Tennessee Dachshund Rescue, who saved Opal, told Waggle. Leslie said that despite Opal’s past, she seemed determined to live.

Leslie said: “She is the kindest, most loving little Dachshund and deserves to live her dog’s painless years with a family that loves her. “Consider donating for her surgeries and ongoing medical care. Donations have been going down to rescue us for a long time and these happy endings would not have been possible without your support.”

Walker

When you look into Walker’s kind eyes, it’s hard to believe someone shot him. A kind couple spotted the puppy walking along a road. They were shocked at his emaciation. They later found that he could barely move, was in severe pain, and had an injured leg.

They took him to a local animal control facility, where Walker was in danger of dying. That’s when the Cordele Animal Shelter Friends group rescued him. “Our priority is to get Walker to the hospital,” Andrea W., of the same group, told Waggle. “His femur was broken into small pieces. The only way this good boy can live comfortably for the rest of his doggy years is to amputate his leg. We know that otherwise this sweet, healthy 6-month-old pup will adapt easily.”

When the group was able to raise money for Walker’s surgery, the wonderful couple that saved him wanted to adopt him! So he has a loving home forever waiting for him after the terrible trauma he suffered.

Help Walker begin his healing journey.

Olive

Pug has a giant mass protruding from her back, and you can see every rib on her emaciated body. She appeared on someone’s porch in the countryside when the sky was tilted 30 degrees. “The post said, ‘Please help! She’s 100% starving,” Heather A., with One By One Animal Advocates, told Waggle.

In a flash, a volunteer from the nonprofit group took Olive to the veterinary hospital, where the vet discovered Olive’s bladder was prolapsed. Now she needs a surgery called cystopexy — to attach the bladder to the abdominal wall so it doesn’t move anymore. Heather said: “When Olive needed her family most in her old years, they abandoned her. “Can you help us prepare Olive for the emergency surgery she needs? Olive is so grateful to everyone for their unwavering love and support!”

Monroe

First, a car traveling more than 70 miles per hour hit Monroe. “It threw his body like a rag doll,” Heather A., with One By One Animal Advocates, told Waggle. “The driver never slowed down, causing Monroe’s lifeless body to crash again and possibly die.” A good Samaritan discovered Monroe, picked him up, and took him to a veterinary hospital. It’s a miracle he survived! But with no one to pay for his care, he faces death.

That’s when one by one people get a phone call they’ll never forget. “The emergency room said Monroe’s pelvis, hind leg and one joint were all broken. He had severe bruising in his lungs and was in excruciating pain,” Heather said. Monroe needed some expensive surgery to save him, and one by one had a difficult decision: can they afford his care? That’s when Monroe had another miracle. A renowned orthopedic veterinarian offered to perform all of Monroe’s surgery and rehabilitation at a cost – without collecting any money.

Now, the nonprofit group is hoping for one last miracle: raising money to pay for Monroe’s care. Heather said: ‘We felt exhausted and emotionally confused after thinking we might have to detox Monroe, just for this angel to open her arms, her heart and practice veterinary medicine. “Monroe is worth every penny!” Please let Monroe have the last miracle he needs.

Maggie May

When Animal Angels Special Care initially saves Maggie, they wonder what terrible thing has happened in her past. She was terrified and with a belly full of puppies. Although her puppies quickly adopted homes, it took several years for Maggie to find a suitable home. “She needed a single woman to love, protect and keep her safe,” Regenia B., who was rescued, told Waggle. “Maggie is very wary of strangers and protective of those she loves.” But then, one day, like a miracle, Maggie’s men appeared!

“Maggie was finally adopted and loved. She loves car rides and new adventures. She was very active until she injured her leg after competing,” said Regenia. Now poor Maggie was limping with pain. She needs surgery to repair the ligaments in her leg, but Maggie’s mother can’t afford it. Regenia said: “Maggie’s adopter had some serious medical bills that cost her a lot of money and time at work. “We try to help adoptees when they need it, but all rescues have been difficult this year. Our goal is to keep Maggie with her and support her needs.” Help Maggie get the surgery she needs!
