The The Genshin effect Story quests and hangout events can be divisive. For example, the story quests Ayaka, Ganyu, Jean, and Kokomi tend to involve the Traveler dealing with an overworked person and may involve what some might call a “date” date” with them. Given the status of Raiden Shogun, an archon of Inazuma, it seems a bit unfortunate that the first act of her story quest Imperatrix Umbrosa reads back some of those beats. But now it second action is here, it’s a much stronger story that provides details about the character, the people close to her, and Inazuma’s history. In a way, it even offers hope that the subsequent actions of the other story missions might offer a similar kind of “redemption”.

To refresh your memory, the first part of the Raiden Shogun story quest, Reflections of Mortality, involves showing Ei around Inazuma City as it is now. Yes, there is a story-related domain to explore as you end up helping to resolve the dispute between the Kujou and Takatsukasa Clans. (You can’t have a character story quest without a chance to use that person in battle!) But most of it involves normal activities with her. She gets dango milk with Traveler. The two of them watched some light novels that Yae Miko published, like The nice thing about being reincarnated as Hilichurl is that I just need to eat Sunsettias to become stronger. She took pictures. It has the same “dating” atmosphere as when visiting the Amakane Island festival with Ayaka. It was good. However, it’s also not as heavy or informative as the quests for characters like Childe, Ittoor Zhongli.
Transient dreamsthe second part of Raiden Shogun The Genshin effect Story missions, are different in every way. Instead of starting normally, we see Ei working. Rifthounds appear on Narukami Island, and she is also there to investigate and destroy them. In doing so, we’ll learn more about Sacred Sakura, a mist and danger that befell Inazuma during the Great Flood of Khaenri’ah, and Ei’s role in supporting her sister Makoto, The original Raiden Shogun. As we go from battle to battle, following the blood-like resin, we will be teased with details and foreshadowing. “Ghosts” of people from 500 years ago appear, alluding to what happened. The Ei beings behave strangely, with things seeming to get worse as she tries to keep fighting. There is still a solemn moment to connect over tea, along the lines of the snapshots and casual discussions in the first section. But throughout this latest segment, it feels like it’s building something. And since its pacing involves conversations with Ei being split by short battles, they feel like a reward for each fight.
Which all culminates in a boss fight that feels even more satisfying. Especially because of the way it’s handled. Well, this eventually ushers in a weekly fight against the Raiden Shogun. For the first time, however, the fight is more plot-based. We participate firsthand in the duel between Ei and the puppet. Visitors and player characters are removed from all. We see her power on full display. We also see the puppet’s abilities. Then when we go back we get this multi-phase attack against the enemy with playable character callback attacks. It’s pretty well done, both in terms of how the boss relates to the story and offers a repeatable challenge.
Regarding the future, both the quest action in the second story of Ei and Zhongli show hope for the future The Genshin effect fairy tales. Zhongli’s first and second actions are both very powerful. Each section offers insight into his past. They also provide an opportunity to learn about other people who have influenced the history of Liyue. For Ei, her initial story quest follows the “date” concept by taking her around Inazuma City with the Travelers while they drink dango milk and watch light novels. The second act explains a lot about her past, her role when Makoto was alive, and even some additional references to Khaenri’ah. Since these are the only two characters with a second act, that suggests this could be a new precedent. That means stories that start out more frivolous, like Ayaka’s, can take on a more serious look and look at their lives, their role in the world, and Teyvat’s history.
All told, the second act of the story quest Raiden Shogun shows that enough time has passed, The Genshin effect Characters can be developed better over time. The first part of her story is fine. Maybe it’s a little more casual and gentle than one might expect. Especially since it follows an established pattern for the women’s story missions in the game so far. But this new installment makes a big difference. It shows the ongoing development of the heroine while providing a deeper insight into her life. The whole experience is more enjoyable and it can even be seen as a glimmer of hope for other character story quests that aren’t immediately satisfying.
