Everyone knows there are two conditions that must be met before Christmas officially begins. First is play Skeal. The second is the arrival of Steam’s Winter Sale. Happily, we can now tick both of these off our to-do list, as Valve has finally rolled out their slew of seasonal deals. Between now and January 5, thousands of games will be discounted on Steam, and you’ll also be able to claim a free sticker a day, for those of you who like it.
We’ll be putting together a list of our own trading recommendations tomorrow, but to see everything on offer, turn to your merry self. Sauna and let the festivities begin.
Just like the Winter Sale before it, spending money on games earns you Steam Points, which you can then use to buy some cosmetics, including those aforementioned stickers, to your page. Set up your Steam profile and bring your Steam chats to life. Personally, the only Steam doodles I care about these days are trading cards. Happily, you might as well get one of these every day, as long as you’re willing to do a daily scan through your Discovery Queue. I won’t lie, this has become a Christmas rite of passage for me over the years, and I’m still not entirely sure why I cross it every year. Hey. One transaction card a day keeps the doctor away, amirite?
The 2021 Steam Awards are also in full swing and you can vote for your favorite nominations on Prize page. You have to vote until January 3, and you’ll also earn a random trading card from this year’s set of Winter Discount Trading Cards to solve your problem. Music reaches my ears. I’m especially looking forward to seeing who wins this year’s “Sit back and Relax Award”, as they’ve got my favorite Dorfromantik in them, and Unpacking, Potion Craft and Townscaper. It was a tough crowd! But I will cheer Dorf on from the sidelines. You can do it, tiny town builder!
For Game Of The Year, Valheim is up against some real contenders, including Forza Horizon 5, Resident Evil Village, New World, and somehow, once again, Cyberpunk 2077. Valheim will survive. after the cut? We’ll find out at 10am PT / 6pm GMT on January 3.
