The mighty GWM Tank 700 could come to Australia in the near future – and at a current price of around A$150,000, it will not only be the brand’s flagship but also become one of the more expensive Chinese cars Most sold in Australia.

GWM Australia marketing and communications director Steve Maciver said Car expert vehicle under review.

“The question is do we think we can make a business case for Australia? I’d like to think so,” Mr. Maciver said.

GWM could move very quickly to offer right-hand drive vehicles once the business case for the new model is approved. The brand filed a trademark application for the name locally in November 2021.

“In theory, if we build a business case and decide that the car is right for us and we can take it mainstream, that can happen as quickly as six or nine month. That’s how quickly this brand moves. We’ve seen this feature before on other products we’ve been introduced to, and it’s on sale and available to us very quickly.

“The ability is there, the will is there. If the market wants it and the business case can be proven and it will grow from a global perspective, then yes, it will happen.”

The Tank 700 Hi4-T variant uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine, generating 268kW of power and 500Nm of torque without the need for a plug-in hybrid system.
