The Great Sunday Morning Storm and The Secret of Spring. All in my new Podcast
What controls our spring weather? Why is our spring weather different from other locations?
I talk about such things in my podcast (see links below). Plus, I provide forecasts….and there’s a LOT of potential weather activity this weekend.
For example, on Monday morning, a strong Pacific cyclone will approach the area, leading to strong winds over the Oregon and southern Washington coasts (see pressure forecast for Monday morning at 5 a.m. below). This is a very strong storm in April.
A large pressure differential will form over the Fraser River Valley and a strong northeasterly wind pushing into northwest Washington.
Another big problem is unusually cold air that will spread across the region on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday morning will bring temperatures down to the mid-30s in western Washington. A weak disturbance will approach. And with that combination, there could be a few snowflakes mixed in with the rainfall.
But with cold temperatures and rainfall, one thing’s for sure, the mountains will see plenty of new snow, as shown by the snow accumulation forecast until 5 p.m. Monday. Can get up to 2-3 feet in the mountains.
