When people hear sounds in the middle of the night, they choose to ignore them or assume the worst will happen. Some people just think it’s their family member coming home, while others quickly imagine it’s someone breaking into their home. However, very few people would have guessed that the random sound in their home was coming from a fox. And not many people would believe that story if they heard it.
Luckily, Emma Slade has video proving that a fox broke into her UK home. She made the mistake of ignoring a sound at night because it turned out to be a sneaky fox making her comfortable.
Uninvited guest
Slade heard a loud bang in the middle of the night, but she thought it was just her daughter coming home. When she woke up in the morning, she found her house full of rubbish, including clean clothes scattered on the floor and overturned trash cans. At first, she thought her dog Bear was the cause.
However, Bear was caught in the trap when Slade saw a nervous fox sitting on the kitchen counter. Someone left the door ajar after letting the dog out. The fox must have come in and decided to make himself comfortable.
“I was pretty scared at first, but he didn’t even flinch or move at all,” Slade said. “The door was closed when I got down in the morning so it must have been closed at night and the fox was stuck.”
No matter what the humans said or did, the fox didn’t budge, even when they opened the door. Foxes are usually sneaky animals, so he can freeze out of fear. However, Slade desperately wants to kick him out of the house because she’s not a fox person. Not only did he leave poop in her house, but a fox killed her pet rabbit when she first moved in.
Fox overcomes his welcome
Slade posted a video of the fox sitting on her counter near a messy room. Many commenters pointed out that it is unlikely that the fox caused this mess on his own. After all, there’s no way he’d leave dirty dishes outside. So viewers feel like Slade is a bit harsh on the confused animal.
In the video, Slade’s daughter’s boyfriend is the only one who gets close enough to touch the fox. He put on gloves and gently stroked the fox. The fox didn’t seem to mind, so the boyfriend carefully approached the mammal and eventually picked it up to take it out. It was chaos, but now the fox is back where it belongs and the house is no longer fox.

“There was no real damage but all the laundry was on the floor, trash on the floor and lots of feces. There are flowers all over the sofa. It took three hours to clean everything up,” Slade said.
The bear was probably glad the fox was spotted, otherwise it could have been blamed for the mess and poop. However, the puppy seems very curious about the fox, so he may be wondering why the hairy creature doesn’t want to play with him.
