Moviegoers spread their Father’s Day weekend riches through a flurry of new releases and enduring favorites.

Mixed results saw the disappointing debuts of “The Flash” and “Elemental,” while “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” continued to attract ticket buyers.

Warner Bros.’ The latest superhero movie grossed just $55 million in its first three weekends, a far cry from the $75 million to $85 million expected by industry experts. It also falls far short of DC’s $67 million opening weekend Black Adam last October.

Shawn Robbins, principal analyst at BoxOffice.com, said: “‘The Flash’ is the victim of many factors that have stalled the buzz of the once-anticipated film.

Robbins pointed at Controversy going on around star Ezra MillerInconsistencies in the DC movie franchise and too narrowly focused marketing campaign targeting only die-hard fans resulted in a lower-than-expected opening at the box office.

“Audiences have shown in recent months and years after ‘Endgame’ that they’re getting more picky about which comic book movies will make money at the box office,” he said.

“[‘Elemental’s’] mid-range debuts are less of a surprise,” said Robbins, noting that Pixar is in the process of rebranding after a flurry of online releases during the pandemic.

Pixar is also facing stiff competition from rival animation studios. Universal Lighting and DreamWorks Cartoon arm has dominated the box office with hits like “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” and “Minions: The Rise of Gru.”

And then by Sony “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” has continued to attract audiences since its premiere on June 2. The film grossed an estimated $27.8 million in three days and has grossed $489.3 million globally since its release on June 2.

Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, said: “While there were no out-of-the-box performances by new wide-releases, this weekend stood out for its sheer volume and volume. Diverse audiences are attracted to cinemas.

of paramount importance “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” earned an additional $20 million in North America, Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” earned an additional $11.6 million, and Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3” earned another $5 million. USD.
