The family insists on giving the critically ill lost one last day of love before he dies
When a precious large terrier was admitted to the Senatobia-Tate County Animal Shelter in Mississippi, staff immediately fell in love with his sweet face and gentle personality. The old dog, adopted by a good Samaritan, was found wandering the streets of Mississippi alone.
Immediately after arriving at the shelter, the beautiful hunting dog was named Vinny. After a warm bath and a hearty meal, Vinny was assessed her current condition by veterinary staff at the shelter. Unfortunately, it looks like Vinny has been alone for quite some time. Staff at the shelter were concerned that Vinny might have been dumped on the street.
First, the medical staff noted that Vinny had a terrible skin infection with patches of hair loss. His fingernails were incredibly long and unkempt, making it difficult for him to walk without pain.
Unfortunately, his problems don’t stop there. Vinny has a severe heart infection and a dangerous amount of fluid in her lungs. In short, the loving people who saved Vinny’s life all realized the inevitable truth – Vinny was nearing the end of her life.
Although she knew that Vinny was not an ideal candidate for adoption, given his poor health, a rescue volunteer named Ashley made a last-ditch effort to give Vinny a home. warm. Ashley reached out to her friend Rachel, whose home was filled with love, and told Vinny’s story.
Rachel did not hesitate to carry Vinny to the rescue. She and her family wanted to make sure that he spent the last days of his life comfortably and safely. Rachel’s two children immediately fell in love with the old dog, affectionately calling him their “puppy” and playfully arguing over whose lap he would sit on the way home.
Vinny died that same night.
It is heartwarming to know that, before her death, Vinny was bathed in unconditional love. Rachel and her kids showered Vinny with the best hugs, kisses and snacks. He died in a warm, safe home surrounded by people who loved him.
In a string of comments, animal shelter advocates on Facebook expressed their sincere admiration and appreciation for Rachel and her family:
“This story brought tears to my eyes. It’s sad that a dog dies so soon… but it dies LOVED. Vinny is at the Rainbow Bridge,” said one user, while another added, “Thank you for saving his sweet soul. You are a hero…”
