The 2022 McLaren Formula 1 car could be yours, in Lego form

The successes at Lego continued to come. Their newest kit is a McLaren MCL36, the team’s 2022 formula one car. Joining the Technic line for more advanced (pronounced: adult) builders, the 1,432-piece set looks incredibly true to the real thing, complete with the team’s brand new paint job.

Lego has worked closely with McLaren Racing to bring life. This is not surprising, since Lego has ready turn few McLaren car into bricks. Toy designers have developed playsets that incorporate F1 shop for the Lego set to be released at the same time as the actual MCL36. In fact, McLaren Racing’s new orange-blue color may even have been accidentally revealed by the Lego set before it is seen on the actual vehicle.

The graphic isn’t all it has in common first: 1 car weight. The Lego clone has a V6 engine with moving pistons, active suspension, front wheel drive and active differential. When all is said and done, the finished car will be 25.5 inches long, 10.5 inches wide and 5 inches taller.

One of the reasons the kit looks so much like its real rival is that F1 cars are by nature very functional. They don’t have the wide panes of glass and sweep with curved sheet metal like manufactured cars, which are difficult to recreate with Lego. The gaps in the bodywork simply don’t look as severe as they do above, such as Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

McLaren MCL36 after several recent Technic releases, including Ford Raptor, Jeep Wranglerand Batmobile coming word”Batman” movie. The Formula One car is scheduled to launch on March 1 and retails for $179.99.
