The Covid-19 pandemic forced many Americans to go home for Thanksgiving 2020, with many choosing to gather virtual rather than physical.
But with so many people vaccinated this year, AAA spokesman Andrew Gross is expecting streets to resemble a typical Thanksgiving: “Crowded. Busy.”
“If you leave the Wednesday afternoon before Thanksgiving and you live near a major metropolitan area, you will be sitting in that old fashioned traffic again,” says Gross.
medium gas price about $1.30 more than last year. “But as we’ve always found, no matter what gas prices are, people will still take that trip. They’ll just save money,” Gross said.
Here are some AAA tips for driving:
- Make sure your vehicle is ready. AAA recommends checking critical components such as the battery, fuel system, tires, brakes, and fluid levels
- Weekend mornings are usually a better time to drive. According to transport analysis firm INRIX, the best time on Wednesdays is after 9pm. Wednesday’s worst time is between noon and 8pm
