There are quite a few extensions available by light. Deciding which is right and if it does what it says can take a while. This great video looks at all the extensions and explains how each one works and what it does.
Merge HDR
Merge HDR is a feature that allows you to take multiple photos and create a single frame where the shadows, highlights, and everything else are perfectly exposed. One problem I’ve always had with HDR is image alignment. Unless you use a tripod, it’s very difficult to do HDR. Luckily, Luminar’s HDR extension allows you to merge images into one HDR file even if they aren’t perfectly aligned. This will be useful for people shooting architecture or landscapes, as it is sometimes difficult to get the perfect exposure in a single frame.
Stacking Focus
One of the most used techniques in product photography, focus stacking allows you to combine images taken at different focus points. This is very useful with macro photography, and I have yet to find anyone who takes macro shots without overlapping focus. Again, the Luminar Neo Focus Stacking extension will align the images for you. This extension will combine your photos into one instantly.

Upscaling is a feature that allows you to increase the resolution of an image. For example, if you are looking to print a large photo, you might consider using the upgraded version. Most cameras shoot at 20-30 megapixels, which may not produce enough resolution to fill a large A0-size print. By using the Premium extension you can enhance this and produce a more detailed file that will print better. Since the files become very large, it makes sense to use the 2x or 4x options. If the file is too small, you can even use the 6x option. If you’ve ever accidentally set your camera to small raw or medium raw, then this feature is for you.
Super sharp AI
Motion blur is one of the worst enemies of photographers. It can ruin a perfect shot. Whether it’s a slow shutter speed or an accidental shake, blur occurs in the tiniest details. Fortunately, Sharpen AI is the perfect solution for such things, as it allows you to significantly improve the quality of your images by sharpening your images. The difference between regular sharpening and Supersharp AI lies in fine detail. By using AI-powered algorithms, Supersharp AI is able to keep sharpness natural, as opposed to less appealing sharpness that other software produces.

Light is the key to photography. However, you don’t always have control over natural light. However, using the Magic Light extension you can do just that and change the properties of the light source. For example, you can change the intensity, size, beam width, light, brightness, number of beams, and even the rotation of the light source. This extension can easily identify any light sources present in the image (e.g. the sun) and change the way they appear in the image.
Remove background
If you’re new to photography, removing the background may be something you want but can’t do. Buying more software just to implement a feature doesn’t really make economic sense either. This is why the background removal feature is so good because it allows you to change the background image without having to use external software.
AI is not noisy
Noise is another enemy of many photographers. After taking a lot of photos with poor light, I often handled the noise poorly and complained about it too. The denoise function in the editing software removes some noise, but you can clearly tell if an image has been denoised. This is why Noiseless is once again a useful extension in Luminar. To use this you need to have a raw image. In her excellent video, Julia Trotti took pictures at ISO 80,000 and processed the image with Noiseless. The results are certainly impressive and show how powerful the software is.
