Tesla recalls some 2020-2022 vehicles over heat pump issue, ‘decreasing de-icing performance’
Tesla has issued a recall of 26,681 vehicles from the 2020 to 2022 model years for an issue related to an improperly functioning heat pump valve — an issue that can be fixed through an over-the-air update.
The recall of documents filed by Tesla explains that the problem “could hold refrigerant inside the evaporator and could deplete refrigerant from active components in the system.” That can lead to a loss of cabin heating, especially at -10 degrees Celsius and colder, it explained, although the windshield defrosting system will continue to function.
