Tesla Model 3 joins Qld Fire and Emergency Services fleet

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has added three electric vehicles (EVs) to its fleet, including one Tesla Model 3.

This is part of a new pilot program to reduce emissions and support the state’s zero-emissions vehicle strategy.

Electric vehicles – one Model 3 and two other unspecified EVs – were purchased last November and are currently being tested to determine if battery-powered vehicles are a viable long-term option for those first responder or not.

QFES has confirmed that they will be tested for the duration of the three-year lease.

The vehicles will be located on various stations and their use will vary depending on the daily needs of the QFES staff.

This isn’t the first time our first responders have turned to electric vehicles to fill their fleet.

Back in 2021The New South Wales Police Force Crime Unit has introduced the Hyundai Kona Electric to its fleet.

At the end of that year Queensland Police added a hydrogen Hyundai Nexo fuel cell into its fleet, while in 2022, Western Australian Police Force added an Ioniq 5.
