Take a closer look at SpiderHeck’s chaotic, engaging gameplay – PlayStation.Blog

Hello, Heckstars! It’s Sergey from tinyBuild here, and today I’m super excited to tell you more about our upcoming fast-paced, physics-based, multiplayer SpiderHeck.

So how can I describe SpiderHeck to you? Honestly, it’s epic, inexplicable. You need to play it for yourself to know where I come from. Because if you put the seven-legged spiders (Does it make them spiders in this case?), particle blades, laser blasters, rocket launchers, multiple enemies and friends together, and above all with a physics-based environment and combat mechanics, mind blowing moves parkour and calls – sounds like a crazy game.

But it’s the chaos that makes SpiderHeck so much more fun! As the saying goes – a picture is worth a thousand words, so check out the new gameplay trailer below.

Take a closer look at SpiderHeck's chaotic, engaging gameplay

Seven-legged hero

You play as a great spiderman and your main goal is to stay alive for as long as possible. Use your surroundings, vast arsenal, and surfing skills to outsmart your enemies (and even friends).

You can also customize your spiders by adjusting their colors and hats to fight in style.

Arena and Enemies

SpiderHeck has several maps and arenas to fight in. Some of them are relatively simple and static, while others have moving elevators, floating islands, and surrounding lava walls! And don’t forget that spiders can end up in zero gravity?!

As I mentioned before, your main goal is to stay alive and become the last spider to crawl. So let’s talk a little bit about the enemy.

Believe me when I say that you will never get bored trying to survive as many waves of enemies as possible. The variety of enemies and their abilities in SpiderHeck will put your skills to the test every time you play. Get ready to fight the enemy with both close and long range attacks.

Take for example this enemy named Whisp. It runs around unpredictably until it decides to focus on you and shoot you with its weapon. It can get pretty intense when you’re facing other enemies, and suddenly you see a Whisp start hurling its cannon at you.

Another example of an enemy you will encounter is called Kherpi. This giant bug is using an orb that follows you around the level. Try to avoid the orbs and kill the bug by hitting the glowing part on its back. You can also deflect orbs with your bead blade to make them follow your enemies! It’s a nice way to make some allies.

Spider Arsenal

In SpiderHeck, you’ll be able to choose from a variety of weapons and master them to victory.

Sure, using shotguns and rocket launchers is fun and all, but the spider’s main weapon is a bead blade.

Rotate it as you like, deflect shots, or even attach a grenade to your blade and hurl it at enemies. The possibilities are endless! Master the dual blade or a spear-like blade to become a true master.

Just like all other weapons in the game, the bead blade also has limited durability. They shrink with each hit, so keep your eyes on it and don’t end up with empty legs.

Game mode

SpiderHeck has lots of different game modes for you and your friends to enjoy. Let’s take a closer look at some of them!

Waves exist

The name speaks for itself. Your goal here is to survive as many waves of enemies as possible. You can do this challenge yourself or invite your friends to join you. Play with up to four Spider-Man in couch co-op local multiplayer, or play together online with PlayStation Plus. You’ll have a limited amount of lives, but as you progress through the waves you’ll be able to choose from special summoners that will match your abilities and even the odds.

Quick game

Can’t wait to swing that bead blade and show everyone who the hell master is here? Then join a quick game and find random opponents online. The first spiderman to score the required number of points is the winner.

Versus mode

Fight with other players or your friends and become the number one spiderman! You can tweak a variety of match settings like limiting available weapons, disabling maps, and even deciding what modifiers will be available.

Heck’s Steps

We are also introducing a brand new mode called Tiers of Heck. This is a single-player hardcore version of the wave survival mode. This mode will put all your skills to the test as you will face a growing wave of opponents and you will be limited to only one life so any mistake could be Your spider’s ultimate bug! This mode also includes special conditions, like rising lava, limited ammo, only explosives and more that will make your spider’s life more difficult.

And there you have it! I hope you enjoyed this little preview of the game. SpiderHeck is coming to PS4 and PS5 later this year, and we can’t wait for you to swing through the levels to do some incredible moves and create moments to remember forever.

Let us know what you think in the comments section below and I’ll see you back in the arenas.
