TAA grants $3.6 million to accredited organizations


The Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance announced on November 18 that $3.6 million will be awarded as grants to 81 TAA-accredited post-pure care organizations.

Since its founding in 2012, the Thoroughbred Post-Pure Care Alliance has now awarded more than $28.1 million in grants to accredited post-purebral care organizations.

“As an industry leader in after-sales care, TAA is proud of what we’ve been able to achieve over the past 10 years and of the collaborative efforts of industry stakeholders to help raise funds. important to supporting our organizations,” said TAA President Jeff. Flower. “Please consider donating to TAA this holiday season and beyond as we continue to strive to fund aftercare across North America.”

In 10 years as an aftercare sponsor, TAA has grown from 23 to 81 accredited institutions and from $1 million to $3.6 million in annual grants . In total, the TAA has awarded more than $28.1 million in grants–specifically dedicated to equine care–to TAA-accredited organizations that have retrained, retired, and resettled more than 15,000 ponies. Thoroughbred horses at about 180 facilities.

“Congratulations to the 81 accredited organizations that have received funding from TAA,” said TAA Director of Grants and Accreditation, Janice Towles. “Each TAA-accredited aftercare organization has proven that they operate to the highest standards and while these organizations are busy day in and day out looking after thousands of retired racehorses, they can have a little more peace of mind knowing that the TAA is here to provide much-needed funding.”

Accredited institutions must go through a thorough check and registration process before being accredited to ensure they meet the Coalition of Thoroughbred Care Standards Code of Conduct, which covers five key areas: operations, education, equine health care administration, facility standards and services, and adoption policies and protocols. Facility inspections were conducted at all Purebred establishments for each organization. All organizations are subject to constant updating and re-testing as a condition of accreditation.

The Thoroughbred Aftermarket Care Alliance is supported by members from all aspects of the Thoroughbred industry, including owners, breeders, trainers, stallions, racetracks, sales companies. shops, riders, organizations, veterinarians, horsemen, racing fans, bet tech companies and many others.
