Nintendo Life

Not long after Nintendo added Kirby 64: Crystal Shards to Switch Online N64 service a few weeks ago, A game-breaking bug has been detectedprevents the player from progressing under a certain condition.

Nintendo addressed the public last week – revealing an update will be released to address the issue (Kirby is stunned on underwater levels) while also apologizing to players for the inconvenience. Now, it’s officially released this update – bringing the Switch Online N64 app from Version 2.3.0 to Version 2.3.1.

Dataminers and Twitter users Oatmeal shared some details about this latest version, as Nintendo doesn’t usually provide patch notes for apps like this:

[NSO – Nintendo 64] Version 2.3.1 is out with a fix for Kirby 64. That’s about it. Specifications! The error can be traced back to N’s AOT compiler for MIPS -> aarch64, since the only files updated are AOT .nro and .pcb. Interestingly, switchbrew says NRO is not being used, but those are the only files that are changed (not even executing the emulator itself).

Nintendo has previously released various fixes for the Switch Online N64 app – slowly but steadily improving the overall experience. Along with the recent Kirby 64 game update, there have been some minor tweaks to games like Fox star, fox 64, Dr. Mario 64 and Mario plays golf.

It also made some serious improvements to the game like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – restore the fog, which was originally missing in the Switch Online emulation.
