Summer Wedding Photos: 15 Outfit Ideas to Shop
‘It’s the season to look at your wardrobe and wonder what the hell to wear to the upcoming wedding. Since my close friends are having more children than weddings these days, the chance of having a baby is an exciting event for me. The weddings I attended late have become more personal and expressive, and we have all become more comfortable with our individual styles.
As we approach summer wedding season, I wanted to put together a series of summer wedding images that can last any occasion. The fifteen options I included are divided into five categories, although there is certainly some overlap between categories for some sections!
Whether you’re a friend, family member, or colleague of the bride and groom, I hope you’ll find something you love at this summer wedding below.
01
Cocktail dress
This is the most popular look for weddings these days but the cuts and styles have come a long way since the year I had six weddings in one summer. All of these can be worn to a casual wedding and can even be worn with flats or sneakers after the event.

Honor Mention: Donna Morgan for Maggy Crochet Puff Sleeve Dress $148
02
Optional tie black dress
These dresses are all passable in the rare but terrifying black tie option event. The best part is that they can easily be worn again for a fundraiser, date, or vacation.

Check out Shopbop Tarifa Dress (Below) $275
Honor Mention: H&M Halterneck Chiffon Dress $70
03
Jumpsuits & Pants
Personally I think the idea of wearing a great pair of trousers or jumpsuits to a wedding is CHIC!! And also underrated. Here are some options for spinning the wheel if this is your type of vibe.
J. Crew Bristol Blazer $228 & Kate Straight Pants $110 (Above)
Mango Wrap jumpsuit (Below) $100
Honor Mention: Navy blue silk jumpsuit $175

Dresses for outdoor weddings
I learned a lot from making bad choices at outdoor weddings! In my experience, these are the most important things to consider: the possibility of uneven surfaces and the possibility of unpredictable weather that could cause you to overheat (and potentially sweat) or overheat. cold. Know yourself and shop accordingly!
Boden Puff Sleeve Midi Dress (Top) $120
Reformation Winslow Dress (Below) Sizes XS – XL & Size 1X – 3X $278
Honor Mention: Mango Bow Cut Detail Dress $80
05
Wild Card dresses
If you’re going to have a wedding where individual style and expression are a couple’s value, COME GO! Joe and I attended a wedding last year where a chic dress was welcome and it set the tone for a totally unforgettable night (see the dress at the top of this post). In my experience, you also tend to make new friends and skip the small talk when you’re wearing something people might ask or compliment!
Fanm Mon via Shopbop Demre Dress (Picture above) $310
Batsheva via Shopbop Welsh Dress (Below) $280
Honor Mention: WAYF via Shopbop Tie Front Top Tiered Dress Maxi $198
Finally, here’s a friendly reminder to consider shopping for your (or your friend’s!) wardrobe before making a purchase. I rarely look back at the dresses I’ve bought when I’m nervous about what to wear to these big events. Give yourself some time and space to make your choices and ENJOY the opportunity to dress well and celebrate love.
