Success Story: This went better than expected!
I come to you today with a Success Story from Mark’s Daily Apple reader Gerhard. Gerhard started Primal with one goal in mind, only to unleash a host of life-changing benefits. Love when it happens. If you have your own success story and would like to share it with me and the Mark’s Daily Apple community, please contact me. Thank you for reading!
Beloved,
We have never met, but you have had a profound effect on my life. I don’t know when is the right time to send you a success story. But over the years, I’ve come to realize it’s a process, not a destination. So here is my story so far.
As I write this, it’s been exactly six years since I started the “30-day initial test”. For several years, I had eczema around my eyes. It comes and goes, but I’m done. So, after reading the Stub Blueprint and the many success stories on your site, I decided to “try this stub” for a month to see what happens.
At the time, I didn’t even know what brain fog was, let alone I got it, but within three days of starting the test, it lifted. I remember thinking, “Is this how easy it is for other people to think?” The eczema fades a little bit longer, but once it’s gone, it never comes back. Turns out I’m pretty sensitive to gluten.
You see, I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder about seven years ago when I was in my infancy. I think taking one pill a day is the way to go with my life. But the mental clarity I achieved gave me the confidence to cut back on my medication (with my doctor’s help using shrink bands). About a month ago, I celebrated my three year drug-free!
Since starting the medication, I have gained about 20 kg (44 lbs) and I have lost half of that by eating less and moving more. Within the first ten weeks of my infancy, I lost another 10 kilos! This puts me pretty much into my college weight.
So what started out with trying to get rid of eczema did exactly that, but it ended up doing so much more. I feel that the initial decision was an important moment in my life.
Some other notable things I’ve done over the past six years are run a half marathon and raise money for cancer research by riding a road bike up the French Alpe d’Huez six times in one day. That’s a total elevation of about 6,350 meters (20,800 ft). This was something I didn’t think I could do, but through training according to the method outlined in your book Primal Endurance, I did.
I’ve been doing gymnastics for a few years and I recently decided to take “heavy lifting” in a different direction by starting a 5×5 weight program. I was curious to know what this would take. where do i go.
I could say a lot more, but the bottom line is this: I’d advise anyone considering ‘trying this primitive’ to give it (for sure) a month. You have nothing to lose, but you can have a lot to gain. I know I have.
Thank you Mark, from the bottom of my heart.
Best regards,
Gerhard
