Stevenson: I want all the belts at 130lbs
New unified featherweight super champion Shakur Stevenson said he wants to collect all the belts at 130 lbs to secure the super star.
Stevenson added Oscar Valdez’s WBC featherweight superweight title to his WBO belt with a decisive victory high unanimously over the weekend in Las Vegas.
With the talk of the Newark native moving into lightweight, Stevenson made it clear that he plans to try to become the undisputed champion in his current weight class first.
Kenichi Ogawa, who is tipped to face Joe Cordina this summer, currently holds the 130lbs IBF title. The current WBA champion is Roger Gutierrez.
“This victory means everything,” Stevenson said after the fight. “I told you what I would do. I said I was going to beat Valdez, Canelo and Eddy Reynoso, so that was my game plan, beat the whole team and I feel good about that.
“Very respectful of them, but that is my game plan. I want to collect all belts at 130 and become undisputed. I deserve to be a superstar, so that’s what I have to do.”
