Preston Tucker is a person with visionAnd His car is so cool. There are many technologies developed for Tucker 48 carlike the central headlight that rotates along with your steering wheel, and the quick-change drivetrain can be replaced in fifteen minutes. Back in 1948, this car’s powerful Franklin engine can propel it from 0 to 60 mph in less than 7 seconds. Tucker produced 58 chassis and bodies, although only 36 sedans were completed before the factory doors closed permanently. Construction on this car, a convertible prototype, was started but not completed on time. And now you can buy it for $2.4 million.

According to the seller, this original Tucker prototype was discovered and completed in 2010. It is built on the original Tucker 48 Sedan chassis with a thicker steel box frame to eliminate frame sagging when not in use. hood. The convertible top was modified by Tucker from the General Motors convertible, the doors were lengthened by Tucker’s engineers and the windshield frame was shortened. Otherwise, it’s pretty standard Tucker fare, if there is such a thing as standard Tucker fare.

This is an interesting machine and it’s almost impossible to put a value on it. Tucker automobiles have sold millions over the past few decades, largely due to their ahead-of-the-time engineering and extreme rarity. Of the 58 original chassis built, approximately 52 complete cars survive today, of which 16 have been built since the company closed. This one is believed to be the last Tucker completed, as the parts and pieces no longer exist to make any more “real” ones.

If the rarity of a Tucker isn’t enough to tempt you, maybe this one-of-a-kind Tucker convertible will do the trick. You will never see another one like it, because they don’t exist. Hell, you’re unlikely to meet another Tucker. I think I saw ten of them and I had to really try to make it happen.

As a point of order, something that I feel needs to be stated here, in a brief sentence if you will. If you’re trying to sell a car online for $2.4 million, hire a professional photographer to photograph the car for your listing. This gorgeous car looks like a pile of dog shit because this cheap bastard didn’t feel like taking the car to a beautiful location for a professional snapper to capture its good side. Pony up, I promise it’s worth it.
