So, Animal Crossing: New Leaf or New Horizons – Which is your favorite?

Of course, liking one doesn’t leave the other over to the dumping ground and the dizzying hours we’ve accumulated on both of these great games are proof that we love this pairing so much. what level. However, for the sake of polarization for the sake of entertainment, please know that all of the people who write below are completely hideous what they don’t choose, whatever they tell words.

So here are our personal preferences and general thoughts on the relative merits and demerits of these great games. And at the bottom of the page you’ll find a poll to vote on and you have your say too.

We start with Horizons hater, our resident Mr. Ollie Reynolds…

I absolutely love Animal Crossing: New Horizons; heck, me CandlestickI spent over 100 hours on it (which I now realize, is probably childish compared to the more die-hard fans).

New Horizons focuses too much on mechanical engineering for my taste

Having said that, my fondest memories of the franchise are in New Leaf on the 3DS. I’ve been trying to figure out why this might be happening and I’ve come to two main conclusions. The first is that New Horizons focuses too much on mechanical engineering for my liking; I’ve never been involved in crafting video game items, so the process of chopping down trees and chopping rocks to get the necessary materials can be a bit daunting at times.

The New Leaf, on the other hand, simply comes at a time when I’m probably more attuned to my video games. I used to hang around on internet forums dedicated to exchanging friend codes and to be honest, I visited a lot of towns and made friends with whom I still chat to this day. With New Horizons, on the other hand, I’m in a completely different place in my life and have barely touched its online features.

It’s a great game, but my heart belongs to New Leaf.

Honestly, New Leaf was the first Animal Crossing game I ever played. To make matters worse, block New Horizons (and a small amount of time in Pocket camp), it’s the only one I’ve played. I manage to sleep well into the night knowing that my 100+ hours on New Horizons makes up for my not playing elsewhere (I won’t say otherwise), but this always comes down to a battle of nostalgia vs. recent bias for me.

New Horizons is not only the better Animal Crossing game but also one of the best Nintendo games

Fortunately, it’s not a contest. New Horizons is not only the better Animal Crossing game, but it’s also one of Nintendo’s best. Dots.

Customization and crafting is what makes it so. Thoughts of landing on an island in the future do not have prospect of digging rivers, raising hills? It’s disgusting. No thanks. It could easily be said that New Horizons caught me at the right time (and seriously, who doesn’t have such a story), but the truth of the matter is how it finds beauty in the mundane. was, and still is, the reason why it’s the better game of the two.

Animal Crossing is one of my favorite Nintendo franchises – I imported the GameCube version from the US long before it was released in the European Union because I just yes to play this lovely little life sim. The DS and Wii entries never really held me back the way they did for the first time in the woods. Then the New Leaf appeared.

I was in college, at a time when a lot of my friends and I were living in completely different locations. But Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a connection. It brings the fun of Animal Crossing to the 3DS along with a bit of fantasy of the extra powers that let you be the mayor. I can choose my own pants and my own design! And go have my morning coffee everyday has become a habit that I have not broken for over a year.

I love how there is a small shopping mall just outside my small town. I can wander around a bit, dye my hair bright pink, put on some new clothes and get my shoes shiny within a few steps. And it expands over time. After a day of studying and struggling with the trash, just curling up for the weekend and just living in the small town of Calypso is heaven.

New Leaf’s concise vision and cozy emotions really benefit me

New Horizons is most of up there. I really loved it, and a lot has been said about how it became a lifesaver in the early months of the pandemic – oh, I’ll know. Hours of meticulous planning, building, monetization, rebuilding – it’s an even greater power fantasy, with lots of new things to do. But I dropped it pretty soon after the summer. Redd felt really elusive for a while. Brewster arrived a little late. And building and rebuilding an island is like a pretty heavy task. I love the little details of the management and construction, and I could get caught up in a crafting loop for hours, but the game just doesn’t. easy.

The new horizon is brilliant. But the brief vision and cozy vibes of the New Leaf really got me hooked on the many little twists and turns that New Horizons’ vast waters have to offer.

It’s a pose, isn’t it? I don’t think anyone would disagree that New Horizons polished the template and introduced many great features and a nod to convenience. It’s not over yet! There’s still a lot it can do, and New Leaf’s simpler approach has a charm of its own.

However, I still want to stick with the most recent game. Terrain generation would be hard to give up since I can now sculpt my island to my liking, but it’s the improved custom design tools that I can’t really do. What other way would I ignore the evils of the world if not by building a huge archive of Star Trek LCARS uniforms and wall elements so I can recreate the Enterprise’s bridge in my house and turn my attic into a Ten Forward, huh?

So yes, Horizons for the win. That’s if you don’t let me vote for my guy Wild world. Everyone knows it’s for the best.

So those are our thoughts – an even split. But what about you? Tell us which island you would like to be stranded on below…
