Six years on, what’s the best year for the Nintendo Switch so far?
Switch has been out for six years as of today! Can you believe it? We’re not sure what’s the more startling truth here, the idea that we haven’t had anything new from Nintendo in over half a decade, or the realization that 2017 is six years ago…
Either way, make it to your sixth birthday while still creating outstanding content like Fire Emblem joins, Metroid Prime is remadeand (okay, maybe we’re a little ahead here) The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is pretty good go any control panel. At this point in their respective life cycles, dear Wii U are dead underwater, and even things that people look back on more affectionately like the GBA have long since been discarded by their successors.
What’s even more impressive is how the Switch manages to keep the ball rolling Consistency within six years of its lifespan. We don’t look back on the “glorious days” of 2017 with rose-tinted glasses and discuss what the Switch “used to be,” because honestly, there’s a legitimate claim to be made that every year has been a bad year for Nintendo’s Latest and (supposedly) biggest.
But what’s so funny about saying, “oh, all is well”? We want to know what year it was the best – and that’s where you come in.
Before we go straight to a vote, let’s have a very fast look at what each year has in store with a very brief overview…
2017
Kicking it off is 2017. This is the year that we launched the Switch as well as releasing many titles that we still consider some of the best games on consoles today, such as Breath of the Wild And Mario Odyssey. Those were early days, yes, but there’s no denying those were good days.
