If you are trying to make money Southwest elite status this year, you’ll be happy to know it Southwest Quick Reward currently offering a new promotion. This promotion makes it easier to achieve Southwest status by offering tier-eligible bonus points and eligible flights in select activities from March 1 to May 31.
As a reminder, Southwest’s A-List status requires you to fly 25 qualifying flights or earn 35,000 class-eligible points per calendar year. Southwest A-List Priority status requires you to fly 50 qualifying flights or earn 70,000 tiered qualifying points per calendar year.
This new Southwest promotion is only useful for achieving Southwest elite status — you won’t earn more Southwest points which you can redeem for flights through this promotion. Southwest launched a similar promotion last yearbut here’s what you need to know about this promotion (first reported by One mile at a time).
Details of this promotion
This new Southwest promotion allows you to sign up once and then enjoy three ways to earn more tier qualifying points and qualifying flights towards A-List or A-List status Preferred.
Here are three ways you can earn rewards points and eligible flights after signing up for this promotion:
- Earn dual rating points on all eligible flights when you check in, book, and fly between March 1 and May 31.
- Travel rewards count towards elite status when you check in, book, and fly between March 1 and May 31. Specifically, you’ll earn tier-eligible flights and get 10% off Southwest points that you have converted into qualifying points by tier.
- Earn 3,000 tier qualifying points for every $5,000 you spend with any Quick Rewards credit card between March 1 and May 31.

Southwest says tier eligibility scores from these three promotions will be posted by June 30. However, the promotion’s terms and conditions provide additional guidance:
- Two-tier qualifying points from flights will appear in your account within 72 hours of your flight.
- A flight sector credit will be credited to your account for award flights within 10 days of your travel date.
- Bonus tier qualifying points from credit card spending will be deposited into your account four weeks after the end of the promotion.
Note: For the first two bonus earning methods, you must sign up for the promotion then book and fly between March 1 and May 31. So only new flights that you book after registering for this promotion to be eligible.
Finally, the promotion does not mention Southwest Companion Card or Companion Pass qualifying points. Therefore, I assume that the additional qualifying points you may earn through this promotion will not qualify for the Companion Card.
