Sigma’s Latest Lens: The Perfect Fit for Mirrorless Enthusiasts
Sigma has announced the release of three new lenses: 17mm f/4 DG DN Contemporary, 23mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary, and 50mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary.
The Sigma 17mm and 50mm lenses are designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras, while the 23mm lenses are designed for APS-C cameras. The lenses are priced at $599, $630, and $549 respectively.
The Sigma 17mm f/4 DG DN Contemporary is an ultra-wide-angle lens designed specifically for full-frame mirrorless systems. It has a metal barrel with a textured focus ring, aperture ring, and lens hood. The lens achieves a focusing distance of close to 12 cm and a magnification ratio of 1:3.6. The stepping motor enables quick autofocus for stills and video applications, and the lens is ideal for vloggers, hikers, and landscape photographers.
The Sigma 50mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary features an AF/MF switch and an all-metal barrel aperture ring. Its f/2 maximum aperture delivers plenty of bokeh, and Sigma claims its optical design produces performance equivalent to the 50mm f/1.4 DG DN | Art lenses in a more compact form. The lens is backlit and produces minimal flare in extreme conditions.
The Sigma 23mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary is a fast-aperture, wide-angle prime designed specifically for APS-C mirrorless systems. This lens has a compact and lightweight body that weighs 340 grams and is 76.9 mm long. Powered by a quiet, high-speed stepping motor, this lens provides quick and quiet autofocusing for both stills and video shooting. Its excellent resistance to flare and ghosting makes it ideal for a variety of shooting styles, including landscape, journalistic and casual photography.
Overall, these lenses offer a wide range of possibilities for photographers, from super wide-angle to standard prime lenses, designed specifically for mirrorless systems. These lenses will be available in Sony E-mount, Leica L-mount and Fujifilm X-mount, and they will be available to order later this month and will ship in the summer of 2023.
