Animal Aid received a call regarding a puppy that was in pain and had severe sores. Even with abundant love and care, Mange is always challenged to heal. Her condition was so widespread that she lost her hair, making her overly susceptible to secondary infections, parasites, and sunburn. Animal Aid has sent volunteers to help the dog. Offers of interest are made eagerly because she can understand hunger – but she has no intention of being chosen.

The dog has stayed on the road for a reason – it is a new mother. It took a lot of coaxing and a lot of dog treats, but the volunteer finally got Momma home. Now is the time to latch on to her puppies.

When Momma’s baby mice were discovered, they were suffering from scabies and Coco was in bad shape. To save both dogs, our volunteer picked up the weakest puppy and gave it to its mother. Coco will get the second chance at life she deserves.

Momma is brought to the exam table. Her poor body was fractured by the laceration. She needs to apply antibiotic ointment and take a medicated bath every day. They hope that with her diligence and good nutrition, she will make a full recovery. Momma was scared but the medical team did their best to calm her down.

Coco was also tested. The little girl was underweight and lethargic, so she was very secure and loved by the medical team applying topical medication. Puppies need regular dermatological baths. Fortunately in these cases, the landlord allows both mother and baby to stay at the rescue center during the recovery period.

After a while, the dogs settled down enough to have their first meal. Momma and Coco weren’t used to being limited to or interacting with humans in this capacity, but the volunteers got down on their knees and had only the best intentions – to feed them a bowl of delicious food. The feeling of warmth throughout the room – especially among the volunteers – peaked when the dogs started eating it.

Although the dogs were safe, they were in a strange environment. Coco is so small and fragile, always snuggling with her mother whenever she gets the chance. She could only sleep in her mother’s body. That is a beautiful thing to see. Their relationship is so clear and so pure.

After a few weeks of diligent treatment, Coco and her mother improved dramatically. Coco even has the energy to play and that drives Momma a bit crazy. The cutest thing happened next and the volunteers were all amazed. Coco watched her mother carefully and imitated everything she did. If Momma scratches her ear, so does Coco. If Momma is scratching, so is Coco. Coco couldn’t take her eyes off her mother and she was absolutely adorable.
