The plan to beat Auburn on Saturday wasn’t too complicated for South Carolina coach Shane Beamer.
After his team’s 21-17 win, Beamer told ESPN that the Gamecocks relied only on two innings in the second half to help preserve the win.
“We talk about this being big SEC football, and we literally lined up in the second half and ran the same two games over and over,” Beamer said. “It’s a team we just beat, but man, I’m so happy for these boys and so happy for our fans.”

Beamer clarified in his post-game press conference that two games were in the run, one counterattack and one duo (inner run).

The Gamecocks served 14 times in the second half to defenders ZaQuandre White and Kevin Harris. They threw seven passes.
Auburn coach Bryan Harsin told reporters after the game that he thought one of the runs was the inside area.

This match certainly didn’t start in South Carolina’s favor. Auburn scored touchdown on two of his first three drives to take a 14-0 lead before the end of the first quarter. South Carolina responded in the second half with two points of their own, with White catching a 28-yard pass from Jason Brown and Trai Jones catching a 3-yard pass from Brown.
Auburn kicked on goal in the first half of the second half, but South Carolina received a seven-meter pass from Brown to Josh Vann later in the third to take the lead.
The Tigers missed a 25-yard scoring attempt on their next drive and were forced to compete in the head-to-head series. Auburn appeared to get a last chance with 2:11 remaining in the game as South Carolina tried to keep up, but the ball hit Jaylin Simpson’s knee and RJ Roderick recovered just in time to get the game started.

The win was significant for South Carolina in that it qualified the Gamecocks for the first time since 2018. They went 6-5 (3-5 SECOND) in the Beamer’s first year as the winner. How to be a head coach.
Gamecocks still have a main game; they host their rival in Clemson State on November 27.
“Very happy for them. To play badly after they won two games last year, so happy for them and proud of them,” Beamer said. “From the day I was hired, ever since we got here, they’ve done absolutely everything we asked them to do and they never wavered. Doesn’t look good. Nobody panics and then we do. I came out in the second half.”
