If you are a Discover credit cardholder and Amazon Shoppers, you may be in luck. That’s because the online retailer is currently running a promotion that can save you money on many of the products sold by Amazon during Black Friday and Cyber Monday when you use cashback from select Discover cards.
Depending on the offer you target, you can get up to 40% off, save up to $40 at Amazon, while other cardholders get $10 off a $50 purchase, $30 off a $150 purchase, or other variations.

If you qualify for any of these offers, you’ll need to use Discover cashback to pay for at least part Amazon buy at checkout to activate the discount when you shop on Black Friday or Cyber Monday or anytime before the promotion expires on December 31.
But there are some steps you need to take first to really earn the savings from any of these offers, so we’ve put together a step-by-step guide to make sure you’re getting every penny.
For starters, to potentially be targeted for this promotion, you must have a Discover credit card. These include Discover it® Cashback, NS Discover it® Miles and Discover it® Chrome.
If you have one of these cards but haven’t connected the Discover card to Amazon account you will need link your two accounts. Sign in to Amazon and add your Discover card as a payment method, then find the “Shop with Points” subscription option under the “Your Account” tab (or Click here to shop with Points). On the next screen, click the “Sign Up” button for the Discover card you just added.

Once your accounts are linked, you will need Click here to check if you are eligible for the offer. Because these are targeted promotions, you may see a message saying you’re ineligible, even if you have a Discover card connected to your Amazon account. But if you just signed up to “Shopping with points,” You may need to wait 24 hours for Amazon’s profile to refresh before you can see an offer.

If you are eligible, make sure to activate your offer by clicking the “Activate Promotion” button. You can then shop at Amazon as you normally would, but during checkout you’ll want to select the associated Discover card as your payment method.
You’ll then need to apply at least 1 cashback point to Discover to pay for your purchase to activate the discount. Amazon may automatically default to applying points to the full amount of your purchase, but you can change it manually and specify the amount of refund you’d like to apply to your purchase – only 1 cent if you want. The rest can then be paid with your Discover card.
You just need to apply 1 Discover cashback point to your Amazon order to get the discount.
Luckily, you’ll get the same value in cash back on Explore at Amazon as you would have received if you had opted to redeem your statement credit instead. Basically, 1 dollar cash back equals 1 dollar at Amazon, which means you are getting the same 1 cent for each point. This is a much better value than what you get when you use it American Express or chase points, who often run similar Amazon promotions for their own card members.
Once you’ve applied at least 1 point to your payment, you’ll see the discount added to your order, but keep in mind that you’ll only see the discount on items sold directly by Amazon, not most third-party sellers.
With the 40% off offer, you’ll get savings on all the purchases you make until you reach the maximum savings of $40. However, with offers that save you $10 or $30 directly, you’ll need to place an order with a minimum purchase amount. So, if you’re targeted for a $10 off offer, you need to have at least $50 or $100 in eligible purchases (depending on the offer you’re targeted at). ) in Amazon $10 off cart appears.
Let’s take a look at some examples of how you can get some great discounts with these Amazon Discover Offers.

It’s currently available on Amazon for $79.90, but if you’re targeted for a 40% discount on Discover, you can bring that down to $47.94.

You can even pair this discount with Amazon’s Black Friday Early Deals or any of Amazon’s category-specific money-saving offers such as save $20 when you spend $60 on some beauty products.
While these Discover discounts don’t apply to Amazon gift cards, they do apply to many third-party retailer gift cards that Amazon sells. And Amazon really has hundreds to choose from, including retailers that might be useful right now like Netflix, DoorDash, Safeway and more.

So even if you don’t have anything you need at Amazon right now, you can buy a gift card for yourself using discounting and saving in the bank for later.

If you’re not targeted for any of these particular Discover promotions, keep checking back, as sometimes previously ineligible customers suddenly become eligible. Similar offers appear throughout the year, for both the Discover card and other credit cards from Chase, Citibank, Capital One and American Express, so you can save somewhere else.
