Save money on subscriptions thanks to this iOS flaw
As you can see in the screenshot above, Calm doesn’t just list Premium monthly subscriptions and Annual Premium subscriptions, they have a wide selection—all with different prices and no markings. Which shows they are available.
But when you sign up using the app, you’re presented with only one choice: an annual Premium subscription for €49.99/year (about $58 USD).
So what about all those other options? Well, in my testing, not all of them are available to all users, but chances are some of them will be available to you. And sometimes that means you’ll be able to switch to a cheaper plan.
How to switch to a cheaper subscription
To switch to a cheaper subscription or see if a subscription is available, you have to sign up for the app — even just for a free trial. So if you don’t have a subscription yet, sign up for the cheapest plan available. You can always cancel it and ask for a refund if this doesn’t happen.
Yes, it’s a pain, but this is a hack-y solution, so you can’t really expect more at all. (For what it’s worth, this might also work with apps you have expired subscriptions to, since they’re also listed among your subscriptions, but I can’t confirm that. )
Next, go to Setting app, press Your name, then press Registration.
Find an app you’re interested in and tap it to see all available subscriptions. These are all the options I have with Calm:
