The teasing is over. Publisher D3, recent preview a new project with a trailer introducing a girl with a samurai sword, has officially announced her latest project. The person with the right title Samurai Maiden to be disclosure along with a new announcement trailer. The trailer shows off more Samurai Maiden game and set its premise.
Samurai Maiden puts the player in the high school uniform of Tsumugi Tamaori, an ordinary girl of the 21st century. Tsumugi is forcibly transported back several centuries, waking up in a burning temple. That temple is Honno-ji, the famous temple where Sengoku-era warlord Oda Nobunaga was burned alive. To survive and find her way home, Tsumugi uses a sword given to her by Nobunaga herself, cutting through hordes of supernatural villains across the underworld.
The game is a fast-paced character action title. Tsumugi slashes enemies, flings them around with his blade, and performs superhuman sword techniques. Samurai Maiden equip Tsumugi with her own team, consisting of three “Gokage” ninjas. Iyo wields an arsenal of shinobi tools, Hagane is armed with fake weapons, and Komimi uses fearsome jutsu attacks. Tsumugi can use the Gokage’s abilities to create powerful combos and sweep the battlefield.
The game also has a romance element. Tsumugi and her Gokage are able to build their bond as they venture into the underworld, unlocking new and powerful techniques. These techniques can be done with a kiss.
Samurai Maiden is in development for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC. It will launch in Winter 2022. PS4 owners will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free.
