Sales of Witches on Holy Night surpass 150,000 copies
Since its release on December 22, 2022, Aniplex has sold over 150,000 copies of PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions of Witch in the Holy Night. While sales of 150,000 copies may seem rather low, it’s a modest success for a visual novel with barely any selection (so it’s not a simulation of any kind). ). Visual fiction is still a niche genre, even if Type Moon’s works may have become more popular due to Fate/stay the night anime adaptation.
Sales slowed significantly though. At the end of December 2022, shortly after the game launched, it sold 110,000 units. However, the interest in Witch in the Holy Night may be one of the factors that made Type Moon decide to give the green light for the English localization of Tsukihime remakewill appear in 2024.
Witch in the Holy Night is a visual novel that first debuted on PC in 2012. It follows Sojuro Shizuki, a young man who moves to the town of Misaki and finds himself attracted to Aoko Aozaki. Unbeknownst to him, Aoko is a magician who lives with Alice Kuonji in a mansion that people say is a witch’s residence. Sojuro finds himself drawn into a magical dispute happening in town.
