Rushie enrolls at Pleasant Acres Stallions


Winner of 1st and 2nd place Rushie , a 5-year-old son of Map of Liam , had arrived at Pleasant Acres Stallions near Ocala, Fla., for care, the farm announced January 18. The stallion was acquired by a partner in a deal brokered by Jacob West.

“We are delighted to have Rushie join our list of specialty stallions in Florida. Currently, only three Liam’s Map stallions are offered to breeders in 2022 — two. in Kentucky at Spendthrift and Airdrie Stud, and Rushie here at Pleasant Acres Stallions,” said Joe Barbazon, who owns and operates Pleasant Acres with his wife Helen. “Being able to extend the Liam’s Map bloodline to our Florida breeders is very exciting.”

Raised in Florida by Ocala Stud, Rushie in addition to Conquest Angel, daughter of Colonel John and half-sister to the 1st grade winner Peace and War (War front ), who won the 2014 Darley Alicibiades Stakes (G1) and finished third in the 2015 Cotillion Stakes (G1). The family immediately produced a student who won 3rd prize Stoneleigh’s Hope and multi-stakes winner Miss Valentine.

Jim and Donna Daniell purchased Rushie for $70,000 from Ocala Stud at the 2019 Ocala Breeders Sale during the Training Sale through West Bloodstock. He earned his second year debut at Santa Anita . Park and three races later finished third in the Runhappy Santa Anita Derby (G1) behind Honor AP and finally Horse of the Year and 3 year old champion Real . Rushie will finish third in the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G2) before winning the Pat Day Mile Stakes presented by LG&E and KU (G2) at Churchill Downs in 1:34.41. At age 4, he added two more bet ends in the Oaklawn Mile Stakes and the Charles Town Classic Stakes (G2).

Rushie retired with a 3-2-3 record in 15 starts and earned $697,941.

Rushie is one of five ranked stake winners in the first case of Lane’s End Liam’s Map, who is the top third sire of 2021 with over $7.6 million in progeny earnings and was the co-leader of his class last year with two middle school winners. Liam’s Map, the 11-year-old son of Unbridled’s Song, won Las Vegas Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) and Woodward Staking (G1) in 2015.

2 year old Liam’s Map has sold for up to $1.2 million, the price paid for his 1st grade winner Colonel Liam , of which 17 are sold for $200,000 or more. His junior average is $156,235.

A stud fee for Rushie is pending.
